Taking Pride: Establishing an Inclusive Veterinary Community

DEI IN VETERINARY MEDICINE SERIES SEE ALL EPISODES »

As you probably know by now, Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to recognize the LGBTQ+ community’s fight for equality and to celebrate the freedom to be yourself. And, if you’ve been listening to the podcast regularly, you also know that veterinary medicine is considered to be one of the least diverse and perhaps one of the most conservative professions in the country.

Dr. Mia Cary, CEO of Pride VMC, is one of many on a mission to change that. Over the past year, she’s joined us on the show for some tough conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the veterinary field. In today’s episode, we’ve collected highlights from those discussions to reinforce the importance of DEI in veterinary medicine, raise awareness of the struggles minority groups face in a largely homogeneous profession, and inspire you to become an ally.
