A World of Difference: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage in Vet Med & Beyond

DEI in Veterinary Medicine See All Episodes »

Did you know the Hispanic community is the fastest growing population in the United States and Canada? Did you also know that almost a quarter of the 85 million pet owners in the U.S. are Hispanic, but only 5% of veterinarians are?

Held annually between September 15 through October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Latinx Americans. In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Liane Davila-Martin, a 2022 Ohio State grad who is making her own contributions to veterinary medicine.  She is passionate about improving Hispanic representation in the profession and providing more support to Hispanic pet owners — not only during this month, but year round.
